JAZZ BANDS
Jazz Band I
Jazz Band 1 is open to students by audition only. Advanced jazz band concepts and improvisation techniques will be taught and students will perform very challenging literature (grades 5 and 6). Jazz Band 1 will participate in FBA District Jazz MPA (Contest) and perform 3 concerts throughout the year. Jazz Band 1 will also participate in 2 Jazz Festivals and several local community functions throughout the school year. Students are expected to practice on a daily basis to keep up with the ensemble. BRHS band department-approved concert attire is a required purchase, and will be ordered through the Band Boosters.
Jazz Band II and III
Jazz Bands II and III are open to students who have 2 or more years experience in band and/or jazz band. Placement is by audition. Basic jazz concepts will be taught and students will perform challenging but standard high school jazz band literature (grades 2 and 3). The bands will participate in FBA District Jazz MPA (Contest) and perform 3 concerts throughout the school year. Students should expect to practice on a daily basis to keep up with the ensemble. BRHS band department-approved concert attire is a required purchase, and will be ordered through the Band Boosters.
