The Braden River High School Colorguard has a tradition of excellence. The group receives numerous awards and accolades which include Grand Champion, Best In Class, and Superior Ratings. Participation in the Colorguard is a year-long commitment that involves 2 competitive seasons: Marching Band in the fall and Winterguard (Visual Ensemble) in the spring. Color Guard members learn proper technique on Movement, Flag, Rifle, and Saber. This equipment and body work will be rehearsed and perfected at both MBOP and Winterguard practices, and daily practice will be required to keep up with the group.
Membership into the MBOP Colorguard is open to all 9th-12th Grade students at Braden River High School. The group is auditioned in early May and begins weekly rehearsals soon after. Members of the colorguard provide the visual support for the Marching Band of Pirates and must be in attendance of all MBOP rehearsals and performances. Those performances include BRHS Football Games and Pep Rallies, Florida Bandmaster Association’s (FBA) Music Performance Assessment, Florida Marching Band Championships (FMBC) Regionals and State Finals, as well as any community event or parade in which MBOP is asked to represent Braden River High School. The active season for the MBOP Colorguard is May through November. Members are expected to become a member of one of the winter guards (Braden River Visual Ensemble or Braden River Junior Visual Ensemble) to fulfill their commitment once marching season is complete.
Braden River Visual Ensemble
The Braden River Visual Ensemble is the top performing colorguard ensemble for the Braden River Band Program. Membership is reserved for 9th-12th Grade students from Braden River High School who have previously completed at least 1 season of colorguard. Members of the varsity winter guard compete with the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC) on the local level, as well as Winter Guard International (WGI) on the national level. Due to the high level of commitment and competition, this group is limited to a select group chosen by the staff. The active season for the Braden River Visual ensemble is December through April.
Junior Varsity Winter Guard
