2024 - 2025 Band Placement/Audition Info

ALL AUDITIONS ARE DUE BY April 30th, 2024

All prospective students must submit an audition for placement into the top Concert Band and All Jazz Bands at this time. If you are NOT currently a BRHS Band student, please email your recordings to Mr. Dawson, Director of Bands – DAWSON4C@MANATEESCHOOLS.NET.

Auditions/Placements can be done in person if scheduled. Please email requests to DAWSON4C@MANATEESCHOOLS.NET.

Play, record, and submit your respective “Audition Etude C” via Schoology or email (music and recordings found below).
1. Play as much of the audition etude as you can. The more you play accurately, the better we can place you in the right ensemble. You DO NOT have to play the entire etude.
2. Pay attention to given tempos, articulations and dynamics.

Play, record, and submit your scales and arpeggios via Schoology or email. You should play as many scales and arpeggios as you can, at the quickest tempo you can within a 4 minute time limit. Submit only ONE recording of you playing your major scales- one scale following the other, etc.
1. The more scales you play accurately, the better we can place you in the right ensemble.
2. Play your scales in the following order - Concert C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, B, E, A, D, G

Play, record, and submit your “F Chromatic Scale” via Schoology or email. You should play the largest range as you can, at the quickest tempo you can.

*Special Notes for Percussion* - submit the Snare Drum and/or Mallet audition Etudes. You should also submit your scales and F Chromatic Scale following the same instructions listed above if you can.
