2020-21 Jazz Band Placement Audition Info

ALL AUDITIONS ARE DUE BY April 30th, 2022

If you are CURRENTLY a BRHS Band student, you should submit your audition via SCHOOLOGY.

 

If you are NOT currently a BRHS Band student, please email your recordings to Mr. Dawson,  Director of Bands – DAWSON4C@MANATEESCHOOLS.NET

1. Etude

   1. Find your instrument's sheet music below.  Play letter A to B ONLY.

   2. ​There are many recordings attached.  One will have your part being played by a jazz professional with full rhythm accompaniment.  The other will be "rhythm section only".  This track will be for your recording for ALL WINDS.  Rhythm section players will use the track that is marked NO ____ (your part).  Please use the professional player recordings to help you understand nuance and jazz styling.​

2. Improvisation

   1. Solo over F Blues using the given YouTube link as your background.

   2. Please follow the following progression in Concert Pitch.

      1. Form in F – one measure for each bar. Play a total of two times. Total of 24 bars.​​
